Tata Motors said at the Investor Day event that the Tata Sierra EV is planned to be launched in the financial year 2026. With this model, the company will also launch the first premium model of its EV brand Avinya. Sierra EV was shown as a concept at Auto Expo 2020. It has been confirmed that the upcoming electric SUV will be based on the company’s ALFA platform.
The company showed a more advanced concept of it at the Auto Expo 2023, which had a 5-door design as opposed to the four-door design of the 2020 concept. However, not much information was given about the concept at that time either. The Sierra concept measured 4,150 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,675 mm in height and had a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It is believed that the final version of the Tata Sierra EV will be based on the Gen2 EV platform. It is also expected to incorporate the same acti.ev architecture as the current Punch EV and the upcoming Harrier EV.
Along with the Sierra EV, Tata Motors will also launch the first model of its Avinya range. It is a premium all-electric brand, under which several models will be introduced. Avinya will not be a standalone vehicle but will bring a range of cars and SUVs. These electric vehicles will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) modular electric modular architecture.
At the same time, Tata has confirmed that their Harrier EV model will be launched in FY 2025, which makes it clear that the company is going to introduce this model after the launch of the upcoming Curvv. The model, first shown as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, will use the Tata acti.ev architecture.
