Samsung in Big Problem due to Strike in its Factory, Manufacturing Will be Affected

Workers at the South Korean electronics company Samsung’s factory in South India are on strike demanding a salary hike. This is affecting manufacturing at this factory. India is an important market for Samsung. The company has two factories in the country.

Sriperumbudur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu Samsung A large number of workers have started protesting by putting up tents outside the factory. Sources in the know said that this factory accounts for nearly 30 percent of the company’s annual revenue of around $12 billion in the country. There are around 1,800 workers in this factory, which manufactures televisions, washing machines and refrigerators. The strike began on Monday and affected nearly half of the daily manufacturing. The striking workers are demanding higher wages, better working hours and recognition of their union by the company. E Muthukumar, the leader of the union of these workers, said, “We are on strike for the second day as well.”

Samsung did not respond to a request for comment on this matter. A company spokesperson said that discussions are being held with the workers to resolve their complaints and Samsung follows all laws and regulations. Samsung’s workers union in South Korea also went on strike for several days in the last two months. However, the union has not reached an agreement with the company’s management. Due to this, this union may go on strike again.

Workers have put up posters outside Samsung’s Tamil Nadu factory with the words indefinite strike. The company’s second factory in the country is in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Smartphones are manufactured in this factory. Samsung’s recently launched foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are also being manufactured in this factory. The company is getting strong demand for these smartphones. In the last few years, the company’s smartphone sales have grown rapidly. It has the highest share in the foldable smartphone market.
