MG Motor to Launch New EV Compete with Tata Curvv Know Everything

MG Motor launched its first electric car MG ZS EV in the Indian market about 4 years ago. Last year, the brand expanded its EV lineup with a compact EV MG Comet, which is said to be a unique and feature-rich EV. Thanks to these two EVs, the company sells its EV line which holds a good share in the total sales. Looking at the EV sales, MG Motor is preparing to launch another EV. Toi’s AccordingThe upcoming electric car will be a CUV and the model is expected to arrive in India closer to the festive season. This EV will be positioned between the Comet and the ZS EV, with an ex-showroom price of under Rs 20 lakh. The upcoming car could compete with the Tata Curvv EV.

Let us tell you that a CUV or Crossover Utility Vehicle is a utility vehicle with a unibody build, different from the body-on-frame build of a normal SUV. However, not much is known about the upcoming model. It is expected to get the same 50.3 kWh battery as the ZS EV. Apart from this, it is likely to get the same front axle-mounted motor which will generate 176HP and 280NM of torque. However, due to the reduction in weight, the upcoming car can offer a better range than the 461 km range of ZS with the same battery pack.

The company is calling it an Intelligent CUV. Footage of this EV testing on the roads has also surfaced, but it is largely covered. Everything except the window and windshield is covered. The long body, coupe-like roof and large wheels make the look attractive. MG has recently registered a significant increase in its EV sales. The EV segment accounts for about 35 percent of the total cars sold by the company. The company has sold 500 units of ZS EV in the last three months. Its sales have seen a growth of 95 percent from the first quarter to the second quarter in 2024. Overall EV sales grew 39 percent from the first quarter to the second quarter.
