Maruti Suzuki’s managing director, Hisashi Takeuchi reported that the company’s target is to finish first in electric vehicles in the next one year. He said, “I cannot estimate the cells of sales but can tell that we have a target to secure the first place in EV’s manufacturing within one year.” The company’s E Vitara will be manufactured in the Gujarat factory. It will export many countries including Japan.
The company will soon give information about the price and booking of E Vitara. Maruti Suzuki plans to include six EV models in its portfolio in the coming years. The manufacturing of E Vitara will be specially designed for battery-powered electric vehicles on the HeartEct-E platform. It has two separate electric excels on the front and rear. Evitara has a trail mode for driving on poor routes.
This electric SUV has two battery variants of 49 kwh and 61 kwh. Evitara has a single-speed drive transmission. Its range is more than 500 kilometers. EV’s share in the total sales of vehicles in the country is less than 10 percent. After the US and China, India is the third largest automobile market in the world. Despite this, the number of EVs in the country is less. However, the trend of reduction in international sales of EV is not visible in India. EV sales in the country have increased by about 30 percent between January and November last year. Measures are also being taken by the Central Government to promote EV. Major electric vehicle companies like China’s byd are already present in the country. These companies are preparing to increase their market share with new models.
