According to the BBC report, Israel has prepared and deployed its air defense systems to intercept missiles coming from different distances.
Iron Dome: The Iron Dome Air Defense System can mainly intercept short range missiles, drones, mortars and shells coming from a distance of 4 to 70 kilometers.
David Sling: The David Sling Air Defense System aims to intercept long-range rockets, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles at ranges up to 300 kilometres.
Arrow System: Israel also has Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 air defense systems, which can intercept ballistic missiles coming from a distance of up to 2400 kilometers. According to reports, Israel used all its air defense systems to avoid Iran’s recent attacks.
How does Iron Dome do it?
As we said, Iron Dome mainly blocks short-range missiles. Israel has installed Iron Dome batteries throughout the country. Each battery has three to four launchers. There are 20 interceptor missiles in one launcher. The radar installed in Iron Dome tracks the location of the rockets. Then it is calculated which rocket can fall in the populated area. After this, Iron Dome destroys the rockets by firing missiles at them. The way other air defense systems work is also similar. The big difference is their capacity.
