Government Launches ‘Sanchar Saathi’ App to Combat Telecom Frauds, Track Stolen Mobiles

In the last few years, fraud cases have increased rapidly through mobile. Some measures have also been taken by the Central Government to deal with this problem. In this episode, the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ app has been launched to increase telecom security and save from fraud. Through this, stolen or lost mobiles can also be blocked.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the communication partner mobile app aims to increase telecom security and empower citizens. This app is available for both Android and iOS platforms. This will provide tools to users to deal with telecom fraud and increase the security of their information on mobile.

Through the Chakshu feature of this app, the report of suspect or fraud calls and SMS can be given directly from the mobile log. This app can also be ascertained how many mobile connections have been released in the name of the user. Through this, the missing or stolen mobiles can be blocked, traced and recovered. The handset can also be confirmed to be real on the communication partner app. Recently, the Telecom Department (DOT) had cut more than 85 lakh mobile connections. Among them, there were more than 78 lakh mobile connections which were used for fake documents. Apart from this, more than six lakh mobile connections were associated with cybercrime.

Earlier, Dot implemented a tool based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase security in the telecom sector. These mobile connections were cut after analysis done on this tool. The No Youar Customer (KYC) framework has also been strengthened by DOT for releasing mobile connections and new guidelines have been introduced for telecom companies. Under these guidelines, telecom companies will have to verify all point of sale (POS). A new rule called TRESILITIT’s message tradition has also come into force. This rule will help reduce spam messages. From the person sending messages in the new system to its delivery, it can be tracked.
