Ask Photo feature will be available in Google Photos

a blog Post In 2018, the company announced a new Google Photos feature. Ask Photos is an experimental feature that is part of Google Labs. Currently, it is being rolled out in a limited release with access to select users in the US. Ask Photos will be available as a separate interface within the Google Photos app. Users can access it by tapping the search icon at the bottom right of the app. In the full-screen interface, users can now access Gemini and ask it to show specific photos. Users can send queries in spoken language.

For example, users can ask “Show me my pictures at Shaurya’s birthday party” and Gemini will understand and contextualise the information to show the photo. Apart from this, users can also ask Gemini to suggest photos to share on social media apps. Google has stressed that it is focusing on user privacy and data security. The company claimed that user data will not be used for ads in Google Photos. Users can review the search queries made in Ask Photos to improve the feature. However, the company claims that this will happen only after the user disconnects their account.

Apart from this, the tech giant said that the answers given by Ask Photos such as your photos and videos etc. are not reviewed by humans. Apart from this, Google Photos is also improving the search experience of the platform for all users. The new feature Descriptive Query will allow users to type a search query in normal sentences to add more information about what they are searching for. This feature is available in English language for all users on Android and iOS.
