Mount Everest Height keep to increase due to Ancient River Arun new study reveals

The height of Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak on earth, is still increasing. This is part of a process that began 89,000 years ago in what is described as a large roll of a river. Erosion caused by the river is affecting the height of Mount Everest. University College London has recently conducted a study. Researchers say that a river flows about 75 kilometers away from Mount Everest. This is the Arun River and is continuously cutting away stones and soil from around Mount Everest. Due to which the height of Mount Everest is continuously increasing.

Researchers say that a surprising process is going on here. In fact, when the river removes rocks and soil from here, the topmost layer of the earth, called the crust, pushes upward, due to which the height of the mountain is increasing. Report According to, this is called isostatic rebound. Due to this process, Mount Everest and its surrounding peaks are continuously growing.

Study co-author Adam Smith explains the process as being similar to reducing the cargo load on a ship. As the load reduces, the ship starts floating more lightly. That means he starts floating more above the water. Similarly, when the upper layer of the earth becomes light, it also starts rising upwards. Smith says that due to erosion caused by the Arun River, the height of Mount Everest is increasing by 2 mm every year.

Over time this process has increased the height of this mountain by about 50 meters so far. The height of Mount Everest above sea level is currently 8,848 meters. However, the reason for the rise of Mount Everest is considered to be the collision of tectonic plates. It is said that this mountain was born due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates. This incident happened about 5 crore years ago. But now river erosion is shaping this area. The Uranus River carries away material from the Earth’s upper surface, causing the two layers beneath it, the crust and the mantle, to adjust accordingly, and the height of the mountains continues to rise.
