India Can Become World Leader in Telecom And 6G: Jyotiraditya Scindia

India has made rapid progress in the telecom sector in the last few years. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia believes that India can lead the world in the area of ​​6G. He said that in this sector, his main priorities are to increase the industry, local manufacturing and research and development (R&D) that offers customers choice and quality service.

He told that the cost of 1 GB of data which was once 287 rupees has now come down to nine rupees. This is a big change. Along with this, Scindia said that his agenda includes availability of 4G in the whole country. About 22,000 towers are yet to be installed in about 1,000 villages. These towers are to be installed by private telecom companies as well as Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

He said that India is among the few countries in the world to have its own 4G technology. BSNL has built more than 15,000 4G sites under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. The company plans to convert these sites into 5G later. Recently, the Telecom Department shared the image of BSNL’s 5G SIM card on the social media platform X. This indicated the preparation of BSNL’s 5G service launch with indigenous technology. Scindia has also tested its 5G enabled phone call.

The number of BSNL subscribers has also increased in the last few months. Recently, Scindia had said that under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a 4G network using indigenous technology is ready and in a few months its service will be available across the country through BSNL. He said, “When Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel launched 4G networks, many people asked why not BSNL? It was the Prime Minister’s resolve that if we have to develop the network of the government telecom company, then we will not use equipment from China or any other country.” It was decided that an indigenous technology would be developed.
